Description
The Master in Lighting Design. Architectural Lighting Design of UPC School, is a program designed to train highly specialized lighting designers in the strategic application of light as a transformative element of spaces. The master’s degree provides students with advanced competencies in conceptual, functional and efficient lighting design, preparing them to lead architectural lighting projects in interior, urban and ephemeral spaces.
This program responds to the growing importance of light as an element with transformative, communicative and sensory capacity in spatial design. Light encompasses perceptual, plastic and technical components that, when properly applied, give identity to the project, respond to visual and functional requirements of the space, and ensure energy efficiency. With the evolution of new technologies, the incorporation of the lighting designer figure is essential in the design of any type of space. The master’s has a clear professional vocation with an eminently practical methodology, based on real projects and applied workshops.
Students participate in the LlumBCN festival and workshops such as Montjuïc Castle, testing real lighting fixtures that they will apply to interior and exterior lighting projects. The program has the support of leading sector companies such as iGuzzini, Lutron and Lluria, as well as the Professional Association of Lighting Designers (APDI). The master’s provides the necessary knowledge to meet the Minimum Educational Requirements defined by APDI, granting direct access to the Junior Professional Members category of the Association.
