Description
The Master’s in Architecture and Environment: Urban Space, Light and Integration of Energies in Architecture of UPC School, is a program designed to train architects and highly specialized professionals in sustainable design and energy integration in architectural projects.
The master’s degree provides students with deep competencies in environmental strategies, enabling them to respond to the growing demand for sustainable and energy-efficient human environments.
This program responds to the current need for architecture to be fully conscious of environmental demands and capable of offering appropriate designs for increasingly sustainable environments. The master’s deepens understanding of architectural environmental challenges, focusing on the energy question, of paramount importance both for harnessing natural energies and for their correct integration into buildings and urban forms.
The program consists of three strategic modules corresponding to the fields of action of architecture and energy: the Sustainable Urban Space block, dedicated to strategies in urban fabric; the Light and Architecture module, focused on knowledge and harnessing of light in architectural projects, and the Renewable Energies in Architecture module, specifically dedicated to the integration of natural energies in buildings. Throughout the program, different visits are conducted related to real application cases, and students are offered the possibility of taking an optional trip to the Institute of Technology and Renewable Energies (ITER) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where they can stay in the Institute’s Bioclimatic Houses.
